Mindful Youth Foundation: World Religions for Kids

Never has it been more important for our children to be initiated into the great light, wisdom and wealth of the world's spiritual and religious heritage. One Water, many wells. World Religions for Kids is a series of 10 classes designed to introduce children to the world's great wisdom traditions in a deep and creative way. Taught by a Harvard Divinity School educated scholar of comparative religion, this program meets Saturday mornings throughout the school year and offers children an opportunity to learn about different religious and spiritual traditions through a curriculum designed with an emphasis on storytelling, and arts integration.
From the creation myths of old, to the teachings from the first nations, and the beliefs, practices and rituals of the major religions such as Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism, the course aims at helping kids to recognize and engage with the cultural and spiritual fabrics of the world. The possibilities are endless - we might make mandalas, learn how different people pray, listen to sacred music, or meet a person practicing a religion we are learning about! Nondenominational mindfulness practices for kids such as short guided visualization, meditation and yoga will be included as well.
